CHARACTER
NAME: Firepaw
CANON: Warrior Cats
CANON POINT: Book 1, just before meeting Yellowfang.
BACKGROUND: https://warriors.fandom.com/wiki/Firestar (His wiki entry is huge because he stays alive for like 40 books, most of it is not relevant to this canon point.)

Firepaw was originally named Rusty, and was born to two housecats, named Nutmeg and Jake. He has four siblings, who he knows by scent but hasn't spoken to much since he got adopted. He was raised in a house as an indoor/outdoor cat, until he was about six months old. He liked his people, but always struggled with wanderlust and curiosity about the world outside of his garden.

Around early spring, he ventured into the forest near his house and discovered that there was a whole civilization of cats there. Almost all of the cats live in one of four colonies, called Clans, and have a tribal society where the Clans occasionally go to war with each other but try their best to live in harmony. Bluestar, the leader of ThunderClan, offered to let him live with them as long as he promised to never return to his humans. He agreed, and was given the name Firepaw after dramatically losing his collar during a fight with one of ThunderClan's warriors, Longtail.

(A quick note about names: the -paw suffix denotes that a cat is an apprentice, in training to become a warrior and usually less than a year old. When they complete their training, they are given a warrior name, which comes with a suffix unique to them. If he's ever canon-updated to at least the end of the first book, his name will change to Fireheart. His wiki will also call him Firestar, which is the name he gets much later after becoming leader of ThunderClan.)

Shortly after joining ThunderClan, Firepaw learned that their previous deputy was killed in combat. He also made friends with Ravenpaw, an apprentice who had been there as his first combat experience and was traumatized by the experience. Ravenpaw hasn't opened up to Firepaw about it yet, but has dropped a few hints that his mentor Tigerclaw was responsible for the deputy's death. So far they have sailed over Firepaw's head.

Firepaw also made friends with the apprentice Graypaw during his first day in the forest, and Graypaw will go on to be his best friend for life. Graypaw frequently advocates for Firepaw's rights and needs, and Firepaw depends on him heavily for explanations of Clan life. While Firepaw's training was originally shared between Graypaw and Ravenpaw's mentors, Bluestar eventually decided to take him on as her own apprentice.

Firepaw has been training as Bluestar's apprentice for two months, and is eight months old now. His canon point is shortly after a time-skip, during which he was training to fight and protect ThunderClan's territory, learning how to hunt mice and squirrels, and learning how to care for the elderly cats in his Clan. I wanted to bring him in before he met Yellowfang, who kicks off the greater plot of the first book, so he wouldn't be too preoccupied with wanting to go home and help the cats he left behind.

SUITABILITY: I think Firepaw will lend himself really well to rescue missions, and will do his best to make himself as helpful as possible while he's here. He's already an animal so he won't have much trouble getting used to being a Pokemon, and he has a very open mind so I think once he makes a few friends he'll be happy to make the most of his adventure here. Among his canon's characters he's particularly suited to jamjar games, since he used to be a housecat and doesn't have as much bias against humans as the other cats.

As a mun, I'm excited to see if any of the events can truly test his morality, since he's one of those characters who is very strongly motivated to do as much good as he can under almost all circumstances. I'm also excited for him to support other characters on their journey, and maybe pull them back from the brink if he can manage it.

QUESTIONNAIRE:

Your character is on an exploration quest when they find an injured Pokemon in need of help. This Pokemon appears to be in distress and is quite dangerous, posing a risk to your character even if they mean well, and putting your quest mission at risk. What do they do? What are some possibilities of how they work with teammates to address this, or do they go at it alone?

Firepaw's first plan would be to try and talk them down, or offer them food and healing items from afar. If neither of those was possible, he would try to work with his team to pin the Pokemon down, possibly faint them for his team's safety, and either fix the injury or transport them to someone who can properly help. If he realized it was way too dangerous to put his teammates at risk, and he wouldn't be able to help alone, he would call for a retreat and try to redirect others away from the area.

He's still young so he'd be mostly relying on older characters for hints on what to do, but his instinct is to help someone who's in pain even if they're actively attacking him. And if he can't help them, he can at least prevent them from hurting others.

Your character's worst enemy has recently appeared in game, and has joined the guild your character is part of. They both want to tackle the same quest, and your character's enemy suggests that they work together as a team to accomplish this goal. How does your character respond to this?

Firepaw's worst enemy is Tigerclaw, and at his currently canon point he doesn't have any real reason to distrust him other than Bad Vibes and the knowledge that Tigerclaw has a reputation for pushing others past their own physical limits. Firepaw would be happy to work with Tigerclaw out of respect for his authority back home, and do his best to follow Tigerclaw's directions, but would also check in with their other teammates afterward and make sure that none of them were overworked.

If he were further in his plot and knew the very legitimate reasons why bringing Tigerclaw along would be dangerous to his teammates, he would speak out openly about it and let the other team members decide if they were comfortable having Tigerclaw with them. He would want nothing to do with him, but wouldn't feel comfortable forcing others to exclude him.

The leader of your character's guild has just approached your character with an offer: they will provide your character with extra supplies, reputation points, and help them with any of their current struggles. In exchange, they ask for your character to do a favor for them that may harm the other guilds, and will not specify what the favor is in advance. It sounds shady, but it's the deal of a lifetime in your character's path to get back home, and refusing it may cause strife for your character within their current guild. What do they think of this offer? What do they ultimately decide to do?

I think this would depend heavily on how much rapport Firepaw had built with his leader, and whether he had friends in the other guild. In a vaccuum, Firepaw would be offended by the offer and refuse it outright, but he is a kitten and he can be swayed by convincing arguments from an authority figure. More than the actual reward, he would be tempted by the idea that doing this shady favor would help his friends in his own guild get back home, and maybe the idea that ThunderClan needs him to come back. Still, depending on the severity, going through with it would probably weigh very heavily on him and he's likely to confess to Pokemon he trusts about it. Even if he had good reasons to do it, he would still feel like he acted selfishly.

Due to shortages on supplies, the city is facing issues deciding where to cut corners during this rough time. Somehow, the responsibility has fallen on your character's shoulders, and they have to make a decision. If they send out an extra team of Pokemon, they will be able to gather more food, and through that, save the lives of dozens of starving Pokemon that were in dire need of nutrition. However, the only Pokemon available to scout for food are those working at the pokeclinic, and sending them out would mean certain death for at least two ill patients. What does your character decide to do? How do they feel about this choice, and how would they deal with the pushback that comes from either side?

Firepaw hasn't spent much time in ThunderClan, but the forest cats have a very strong culture of protecting and respecting their medicine cats under all circumstances. Medicine cats cannot be attacked during battles, and are allowed to roam freely in other Clans' territory, both privileges that no other cat has. With that in mind, he would never force the PokeClinic workers to go out foraging when they have patients to care for, but would speak to them and ask if they were willing to. Whatever decision they made, he would stick to and defend.

At his current age he would probably be very frightened by the pushback from hungry Pokemon, but he would insist that a few extra supplies are not worth losing two lives, or especially putting the PokeClinic workers in danger. Still, if someone starved because of his choice he would be completely heartbroken, and it would weight heavily on him even if others didn't think it was his fault.

POKEMON: Litten - for obvious reasons I wanted to pick a cat Pokemon, and I wanted it to be a fire Pokemon to fit his name, so Litten fits best. I think Firepaw will have an easy time adjusting to his new body, and it'll be fun for him to contend with being a very friendly cat despite Littens having permanently moody faces.

GUILD OPT-OUT: None, he can go wherever he fits best :)
